A new theory does not emerge simply because an artist wishes to invent another concept. It becomes necessary when existing frameworks are no longer sufficient to describe what is happening within the work.

Contemporary painting has expanded far beyond the traditional understanding of the image as a fixed composition.

Matter has become active.

Time has entered the structure of the work.

Processes remain visible.

Transformations continue to influence perception.

Emotion can operate as a structural force rather than merely as a represented subject.

Parallel Emotional Systems (PES) proposes that these elements should not be treated separately.

They form one dynamic system.

Matter is active.

Time is internal.

Emotion is structural.

The image remains open.

Within PES, a painting is therefore not understood merely as a completed visual object.

It is a system in which material processes, temporal layers, emotional structures and perception continue to interact.

The image may stop physically changing, but its internal relations do not become closed.

This leads to one of the central propositions of Parallel Emotional Systems:

The image stops moving, but does not end.

The necessity of PES emerges precisely here.

It proposes a theoretical framework for understanding painting not only through what an image represents, but through how the work exists, transforms and continues to operate over time.

The image is not simply given.

It emerges.

Meaning is not simply imposed.

It unfolds.

PES therefore proposes another way of approaching contemporary painting: as a living relationship between matter, time, emotion and image.
